CSR Management

The Don Quijote Group adheres to the corporate philosophy of “valuing the customer as our utmost priority” and strives to enhance corporate governance and compliance practices. This stance is a management priority for enhancing corporate value. Through various approaches, we strive to preclude the appearance of risk and have structures in place to facilitate quick responses in the event a situation does occur. In conjunction with these efforts, we ask the advice of outside experts and maintain legality and transparency in corporate governance and management practices.

Enhanced practices and thorough awareness of compliance issues

To the Don Quijote Group, true compliance is about earning the confidence of all stakeholders and fulfilling social responsibilities. With this in mind, we set up the Compliance Hotline which functions as a portal for reporting concerns, such as possible legal violations, as well as the Nandemo Anshin Sodan Madoguchi (a consultation help desk for any issue) to solve issues relating to the emotional and physical well-being and lifestyles of employees and their families.

e-learning program

We run an e-learning program for all store managers to promote understanding of laws and regulations that must be obeyed and rules that must be followed, which underpins thorough awareness of compliance issues. We strive to engage in fair business transactions and provide products and services that are safe and give customers peace of mind.

Deep-rooted corporate philosophy

Genryu (“The Source”) is a collection of company philosophies—a written form of ideals that articulate such concepts as our core philosophy, based on the corporate philosophy of “valuing the customer as our utmost priority,” a code of conduct, a healthy relationship with business partners, and the creation of stores that are safe and comfortable for customers and staff. All employees and members of management throughout the Don Quijote Group embrace Genryu as common ideals to uphold. To fuel the “Donki-ism” quality that has imbued our operations from the very start and preserve our corporate DNA and to be an enduring, sustainable corporate group, everyone under the Group umbrella adheres to Genryu in the course of business activities.

Risk management

Drawing on the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Kumamoto Earthquake, we theorized about preparing for a massive earthquake that could occur at any time and actions to take when such disaster strikes. These ideas are shared with stores and support divisions.
We also appoint PAD leaders at each store and, under a cooperative arrangement with store managers, seek to enhance store-specific disaster prevention measures. Through these efforts, all employees gain a heightened awareness of disaster prevention and are able to execute proper responses without getting flustered in the event of an emergency.
